02/09/18 - On Monday and Tuesday of next week, 5th grade students will be taking the STAAR Ready Tests in Math (Monday) and Reading (Tuesday).  Please send your children to school well-rested, on-time, and bellies full with a healthy breakfast.

 

This week in math, we tested over all things decimals.  Tests will be returned to students on Friday (2/9) with test corrections due no later than Thursday, February 15.  We also learned about the coordinate plane and plotting ordered pairs in quadrant one.  Your children had a lot of fun practicing plotting ordered pairs on a life-size coordinate plane!  After the STAAR Ready testing, we will move on to the geometry unit.

In social studies, we continue our study of the American Revolution.

02/01/18 - This week, our students did a great job performing the America play.  Thank you for coming to support our students.

​

In math, we reviewed all things decimals - adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, comparing, ordering, and rounding - as we will be testing over these concepts on Monday and Tuesday.  For the rest of the week, we will learn about graphing ordered pairs on a coordinate plane.

In social studies, we continue our study of the American Revolution.

Khan Academy (Adamec Math Classes Only) - If you did not receive a copy of the Khan Academy permission slip, please download one here and return to me ASAP.  It can also be downloaded from my website.

 

Valentine's Day Party - As part of our Valentine's Day party on February 14, students have the option of participating in a Valentine's Box Decorating Contest.  Prizes will be awarded to Most Creative, Most Humorous, and Most Traditional.  Please remember that if students hand out valentine's, they must give a Valentine to all students in our homeroom class.  A class list is attached.  More info on the party should be coming from our classroom parent.

 

Classroom Supplies - I am in need of some classroom supplies as they have slowly been disappearing from my bins.  If you can help provide any of the following, it would be much appreciated:  pencils, colored pencils, thin markers, glue sticks, black expo markers.

 

Immigration Day - Immigration Day is a incredible learning experience in which 5th graders go through a mock simulation as an immigrant coming to America.  For Immigration Day to be successful, we need many, many volunteers.  The Immigration Day Parent Info meeting will be on Tuesday, March 6th at 2pm in Mrs. Sorrell's classroom.  Please let me know if you plan on attending.  Immigration Day will be held on April 24.  More info to come.
