12/15/17 - This week in math, we learned how to divide fractions.  For the most part, the students have the hang of the standard algorithm, but word problems are challenging.  Next week, we will practice more with word problems.

In social studies, we continue to study the 13 colonies as we are getting closer and closer to the American Revolution.

Don't forget that our class winter party is on Thursday and that is the last class day before the winter break.  Please let me know if you plan to check your child out of school early that day after the party.

12/08/17 - Thank you to those who were able to come view the Cluster Showcase today.  The student's were very proud of what they learned and accomplished over the past 8 weeks and enjoyed sharing with you.

If your child is going to miss school before the winter break, please let me know.

If you have yet to access the RRISD online grade book HOME ACCESS, please take time over the weekend to do so.  This will allow you to see all of your child's grades in all of their classes.  If for some reason, you are unable to log in, please click the help/forgot login link.  HOME ACCESS is the best way for you and your child to keep up with their work and grades in real time.

With the 9-weeks and semester almost coming to an end, it is important that your child complete and turn in any and all missing work.  The deadline for my social studies and math classes is Tuesday, December 19.

Yesterday, I returned the place value and decimals test.  All students have the opportunity to do test corrections to improve their grade.  Test corrections must be completed on my test corrections form and must have a parent signature.  The hard  deadline for test corrections is Wednesday, December 13.

In math this week, we tested over place value and decimals and have moved on to multiplying fractions.  We will continue to practice multiplying fractions by whole numbers next week, in addition to learning how to divide a fraction by a whole number and a whole number by a fraction.

In social studies, we continue to learn about the developments in the thirteen colonies.

12-01-17  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break with your families.  It was fun to share with each other the different ways we spent the break.  Three weeks until the winter break!

In math, we practiced dividing decimals and worked on the test review packet.  Students had time on Thursday and Friday to work on the packet.  It is due on Monday.  Our next math test is on Tuesday, December 5, covering place value and adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals.

Next week, we will test on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The next concept we will cover is multiplying and dividing fractions.

In social studies, we continue our study of the colonies.
